Summer Scouting notes: RB Leddie Brown, West Virginia

Limited in speed – very loose and open running form. Looks awkward and uses a lot of extra energy. Average change of direction. Because of his lack of acceleration, he struggles to be an effective cutter… Good, strong body control. Has some decent run power to break tackles and gain extra yardage. Good brute strength. He has a tendency to bust through tackles… Doesn’t accelerate well. Struggles because of his awkward form. Takes several steps to get moving. Decent explosiveness. Will create lanes with his burst… Has excellent field vision between the tackles. Sometimes too patient. Waits for blocks in space when he needs to dart forward and gain yardage… Shows good contact balance to make him difficult to stop between the tackles… Natural hands, good receiver. Catches well out of the backfield. Strong. Shows the ability to maintain the catch through even violent contact… Power while blocking is a little lacking for Brown, who quickly reads and picks up his assignments. Doesn’t look like he can handle bigger pass rushers. Can get blown up during assignments and lack effectiveness. Quickly moves into place.
