TE Josh Whyle

HT: 6’5″
WT: 235
DOB: N/A
High School: La Salle
Hometown: Cincinnati, Ohio
Year: Redshirt Junior
Phil Steele: PS#21

Overview: Josh Whyle is the most complete tight end prospect that Cincinnati has put out since perhaps Travis Kelce. They had three very good tight ends in 2020 (Bruno Labelle, Leonard Taylor, and Whyle) and Whyle is the most complete prospect of the three. An excellent blocker who can catch well too – led the team in 2020 in receiving yards and touchdowns.

Summer Scouting Notes: TE Josh Whyle, Cincinnati

Not the fastest on the field, but has a sneaky sense to his game… Whyle’s strength comes from his lower body, showing impressive drive when engaging with defenders… Slow to accelerate, but can get moving after a few steps. Sudden so he has good explosiveness… Not the most polished route runner, but definitely shows some potential, especially when working against zone coverage… Good, natural hands. Reacts well to angle the ball even in difficult situations. Very consistent hands. 0 drops last season per PFF… Catches very well through contact and In traffic… Good strength, especially for someone his size.
