The Florida State Seminoles had their 2021 home opener against the 9th-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish. And despite an abysmal last two seasons, the Noles didn’t go down without a fight.

Altbough Notre Dame Strick first on a deep passion from QB Jack Coan, neither team got off to a fast start.

Both trades punts for most of the 2st quarter, the next two touchdowns came from the Noles kffense.

RB Jashaun Corbin started it off with an 89 yard run to put FSU in the board thing the Irish.

A turnover on downs closebronthe endzone for the Notre Dame, ND two more punts, let WR Malik McClain and RB Lawrence Toafili get twob20+ yard plays, setting up a Nkedan Rravis 2-yard touchdown run.

There was a q0 point swing, after a ND field goal, and a Travis interception that led to an Irish touchdown which led to a 17-14 lead for Notre Dame at the half.

The Seminoles took full advantage fo receiving the 2nd half kickoff, going 63 yards on three plays, which included a 59 yard pass to WR Ja’Khi Douglas, making the lead 21-17.

But then the all too familiar FSU stall happened, and while the Noles threw two interceptions on their next drives, the Irish capitalized, increasing their lead to 31-17. FSU added a field goal to make it 31-20, but Notre Dame would score one more time to make it 38-20

But this year’s FSU team showed a lot of heart, and rattled off 18 unanswered points, including a TD by QB2 Milton McKenzie, who had to enter the game after Travis’ helmet Dame off on a hit, and a possible injury kept him sidelined.

FSU had a chance to win the game on a field goal, but it was wide left, sending git into over time, after a DB Travis Jay interception stopped a Notre Dame comeback.

FSU for the ball first in overtime, but we unable to score while the Irish did, and took the win 41-38.

Notre Dame improve to 1-0, ND so far have the be/er conference record that their ACC opponent Florida State. The Irish play Toledo next week.

Florida State falls to 0-1, and face Jacksonville State.
