Rachaad White Scouting Report

Good, not great, speed and good athletic ability. Very shifty. Changes direction well both in small increments and in full cut backs. Flashes special body control. Has several moves that he uses very well and is very natural in his running style.

Runs with surprising power. Excellent runner between the tackles. Very strong, willed himself forward at times. Acceleration is average. Struggles to get up to speed quickly. Very explosive through the hole. Excellent burst. Works well to find creases. Gets surprisingly small for his size. Moves well in space to get to open space and buy himself more time from defenders. Strong contact balance in power situations. Doesn’t absorb contact, but manages it well. Doesn’t often do anything but fall forward.

Very capable receiver out of the backfield. Very decent route runner. Smooth moves and knows what he’s doing. Was utilized out of the slot as well as a receiver. Doesn’t have great power to stand in there and make a good block. Quickness is there, but doesn’t consistently stand in to properly make a block. When he does, he picks up these assignments extremely well.

What we want to see from Rachaad White in Mobile

  • Rachaad White has flashed potential to be an effective receiver out of the slot. We would like to get a better glimpse of how well White runs routes from the slot against nickel backs/safeties, and hopefully from the perimeter. His upside as a receiver makes him a valuable tool in an offense.

Pre-Senior Bowl projection

We like everything that we’ve seen from Rachaad White on tape. He’s a very smooth runner and, despite his lack of top end speed, a dynamic running back out of the backfield as a receiver. He’s flashed potential as a good pass protector too, when he’s set and prepared for the assignment. White best projects as a rotational back and can fit in almost any scheme.

We like White as a 5th/7th round projection. The only thing that is really holding him back as an NFL draft pick is his lack of top end speed. If he was faster, he would could be a day two pick.
