Mike Harley Scouting Report
Solid speed. Should be in the 4.44 range. Changes direction well. Very fluid hips. Good body control overall. Excellent acceleration. Better than average explosion. Great footwork through his breaks. Solid through his double moves. Flashes excellent hand work to get past the defender.
Works the sideline very well. Great job keeping both feet in. Strong hands. Doesn’t appear to have very long arms so he needs the strong hands to make up for it. Above average consistency making catches. Shows the ability to make catches through contact.
Offers very solid deep threat ability. Attacks the catch point and has the speed to make things happen from the slot. Not much of a factor in the red zone. Average creativity. Typically goes down at first contact. Not a great run blocker. Doesn’t have the size nor the strength to be effective. More of a liability as a blocker than anything else.
What we want to see from Mike Harley in Orlando
- Mike Harley stands out on tape with his explosion and incredible quickness and ability. We just want to see Harley stand out in Orlando, especially while sharing a field with Travell Harris. If Harley can do that, he could get another invite to another game later on down the road as a replacement.
Pre-Hula Bowl projection
Mike Harley is the perfect example of a utility slot – someone with explosive ability and speed who can make catches in traffic and through contact with some extended run after catch ability. The issue is that these smaller slot receivers are a dying breed in the league, especially with a lot of teams trying to get bigger players into the slot.
We think Harley best projects as a fifth/seventh-round prospect at the next level. His size will be a detriment to his ability, but his athletic profile and ability to make tough catches will make him a valuable target somewhere.
