Big Kat Bryant Scouting Report
Speed is good. Works well in both traffic and in space. Might be a step slow for the NFL level. Extremely fluid laterally. So quick and agile. Has such a great first step. Very difficult to read coming off of the snap. Fairly explosive. Moves very well and has good bounce to his step. Has room to add to his frame, but already shows good upper body strength. Has some brute strength to his game. Get’s a good bull rush when he wants. Doesn’t offer much bend.
Strong hand usage. Doesn’t show a lot of hand technique against more technical blockers. Flashes strong, wrap up tackling ability. Not the best at being consistent. Very solid space defender. Played excellent contain on the boundary. Shows the ability to work through traffic with relative ease. Excellent hustle. Played a tremendous number of snaps in 2021. On the field almost every defensive snap.
What we want to see from Big Kat Bryant in Las Vegas
- Big Kat Bryant’s doesn’t offer a lot of bend ability coming off of the edge due to just being a stiff athlete. That being said, his upper body is stout and could potentially be his winning factor if he can develop his hands. We want to see Bryant show some improvement in his finesse game and see if he can’t show teams exactly what kind of upside that they would be acquiring.
Pre-Hula Bowl projection
Big Kat Bryant is an intriguing 3-4 defensive end/RUSH end, a good athletic pass rusher with good upside. We like him as a potential year two starter, but more than likely won’t hit his full stride until year three.
We like Bryant as a fourth/fifth-round projection. There’s certainly some upside and potential versatility from Bryant that should attract a lot of NFL teams.
