Jahcour Pearson Scouting Report
Very quick and decisive. I think he’s more quick than he is fast, much faster in short bursts than with his long speed. Changes direction well. Good explosion, translates well into burst over the middle. Very fluid route runner. Excellent body control throughout the rep. Cuts are crisp and clean. Seems most comfortable as a receiver on timing concepts. Extremely inconsistent hands, the least reliable receiver on the field at Ole Miss.
Catches well through contact. Focuses his concentration on the catch and doesn’t worry about yards after it. Excellent in those situations, really. Doesn’t offer much of a deep threat. Small and quick, but mostly suited for underneath work. Good field vision. Moves well into space. Not as creative with his moves, but is effective. Willing blocker, just not strong enough to be very capable. Typically has little effect on a play.
What we want to see from Jahcour Pearson in Orlando
- We want to see a lot of focus from Jahcour Pearson on ensuring strong hands. His biggest knock on tape, outside of his size, were the inexplicable drops that Pearson would struggle with. We want to see a lot of those concentration issues clearing up with Pearson focused on being the best prospect on the field at the event.
Pre-Tropical Bowl projection
Jahcour Pearson projects as a quick slot receiver who can serve as a bit of a gadget player at the next level. His athletic ability is excellent, but his size and the issues he’s had with drops present a potential issue with his projection that he can’t overcome.
We project Pearson as an undrafted free agent. It’s hard to imagine his size being overlooked by teams, even despite his explosive ability.
