Brian Robinson Jr scouting report
Not a fast runner. Will not test well in the 40-yard dash. Has adequate speed for the position but will rank toward the bottom. Very shifty. Can utilize his cut multiple times on a run to make defenders miss. Has a good sample variety of moves. Keeps his legs churning. Solid run power in those situations. Consistently falls forward. Very consistent – almost impossible to stop behind the line of scrimmage.
Brian Robinson Jr is a no-brainer for me. He’s really stepped up. Two years ago people in that building said he was better than Najee. Local kid. He’s run hungry all year. Powerful, hard running guy. Violent runner. He’s what the league wants now: that big, 225-pound guy. And he’s got legit juice. He’s not a one-speed back. He’s the only guy we have at that priority level.
Jim Nagy
Hard, determined runner. Offers some phenomenal strength. Excellent acceleration. Very impressive burst in short yardage situations. Very explosive in short increments. See’s the field so well. Has the agility to move with the hole as it opens. Understands how to manipulate defenders with his head and upper body. Excellent job working around defenders. Runs low and has the ability to absorb contact as needed. Very consistent runner. Excellent receiver. Strong hands.
What we want to see from Brian Robinson in Mobile
- We really want to see how Robinson reacts in pass protection. Alabama’s offense asked him to do it at times, but most of the time the Crimson Tide wanted to utilize Robinson as a receiver because of his value there. Robinson is so good as a runner and so effective as a receiver,
Pre-Senior Bowl projection
Brian Robinson is the latest star running back to emerge from Alabama. We feel he would fit in any system at the next level – best as a three-down back who would rotate with another three-down back. He brings value to every level of the field.
I think Robinson is the best overall running back in this class. He can do it all and is the best fit in several different offenses in the league. We like him as a second/third-round pick at this point and a good week in Mobile can push him up a little bit higher.
