Treylon Burks scouting report
Very fast. Will be among the top of the receivers in the class. Very explosive athlete. Incredibly explosive playmaker. I really like the footwork he shows with his route running. Sells his fakes very well. Get’s the positioning that he wants for the most part, though I think he could be cleaner at the break at the top of his route. Unfortunately, didn’t run a very advanced route tree at Arkansas. Flashes nuance understanding at times. Excellent release versatility and ability.
Excellent catch radius. Very soft hands. Has the hops and the size to be very effective going up to secure catches. Catches well through contact. Works well both short and downfield. Strong ability to shield the catch point. Incredible deep threat ability. He’s dangerous on any part of the field.
There is no doubt that Burks is a significant threat after the catch to make big plays. Has a variety of moves, excellent field vision, and contact balance. Has the strength and body size to pull defenders for many extra yards, especially the less capable tacklers. Built like a big running back after the catch. Good, strong run blocker. Gets into the pad level and really pushes back. Was very consistent through college. Don’t see him miss blocks.
Treylon Burks is one of the most ridiculous prospects to come out of college at the wide receiver position over the last few years. He’s a tough and physical player with incredible speed. With those two traits, Burks will be an incredibly high-valued target in this class.
Burks is a first-round prospect in our books. His speed at his size is ridiculous and he can both create opportunities to get the ball with his route-running and through manufactured carries. Either way, Burks is tough after the catch and provides mismatch opportunities at the next level.
