George Pickens scouting report

Solid speed. Excellent athlete. Average overall body control. Tends to flail at times. Acceleration is good. Very explosive athlete. Has the hops to win up top. Struggles with balance at times while running his routes.

Ran a very limited route tree within the Georgia offense. Mostly go’s and slants. Not a particularly nuanced route runner. Solid release ability inside. Good overall release ability, showing some flexibility throughout his releases. Does a good job naturally creating good catch angles. Strong hands. Didn’t really see him have much of an issue with drops. Excellent vertical ability. Catches very well through contact.

Excellent deep threat. Has the speed and the hands to be effective consistently deep down the field. Pickens has the body size to be a tough cover in the red zone. Has the ability to go up and win 50/50 balls. Strong run blocker. Even lined up in-line and blocked like a tight end while at Georgia. Fairly consistent. Does struggle at times to not take the holding penalty.

Pre-Combine projection

George Pickens projects as a boundary X receiver with the potential to be an elite boundary receiver in the NFL. His size, explosive ability, speed, and agility are all keys to his game that make him such a difficult receiver to cover. We think he’s potentially a pro bowl player at the next level, and can play on several teams right away.

Pickens best projects to us as a first/second round pick. He’s made a remarkable comeback from an injury that would have ended most players season hopes, suffering the Achilles tear in April. We like his toughness and grit and his upside should have him valued highly around the league.
