Dai’Jean Dixon Scouting Report
Nicholls State’s all time leading receiver, Dai’Jean Dixon, proved to be a serious problem for all FCS teams. Dixon has fully committed to showing he can compete at the next level, with high level performances against better FCS teams and better competition in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. Dixon is an extremely versatile receiver for his size and continues to produce yardage every change he gets. The All-Southland First Team selection hauled in at least a catch every quarter, leading both sides in receiving with 131 yards and a TD.
Pros/Strengths: Dixon has shown he is a gritty and competitive player. He can execute routes inside or outside, but will likely be primed to be a perimeter receiver. Dixon obtains unique length and speed, allowing him to get open comfortably and catching the ball wherever the QB puts it. His speed and quick first step off the line will help him exceed more than anything in the NFL.
Cons/Weaknesses: Although he is a high level producing receiver, there are a few things that still need polished when it comes to Dai’Jean Dixon. The biggest weaknesses in Dixon’s game is his ability to work in the open field. Dixon will need to continue to polish his route running, as it is crucial when it comes to timing and spacing in the NFL. I would also like to see Dixon use his speed and elusiveness more effectively, making him a greater threat when the ball is in his hands.
Dixon could become a steal in Rounds 6-7, potentially Round 5 if he can perform to expectations at the combine. A projected 4.3-4.4 should be enough to build value from the scout’s eyes. Teams will love his speed and his natural ability to get open in space. This Nicholls State WR is for sure a diamond in the rough from the FCS.
