The United States Football League is taking another step toward coming to life. The league is dropping each of the USFL football teams uniforms throughout today (February 17th, 2022), 59 days away from kickoff and four days away from the league’s inaugural players draft.
The other point worth noting is that today, on Speak For Yourself, the show will be conducting the first ever Draft Lottery for this type of a start up league.
You can track all of the USFL football teams looks here in this central spot.
HC – Skip Holtz
The league first decided to release the Birmingham Stallions uniforms, a tribute to the city where the league will be played in its inaugural season.
It’s an elegant design, simple but modern. I think the font fits well with the City of Birmingham as a whole and the colors aren’t over the top nor detracting. The league did a very nice job designing these.
HC – Kevin Sumlin
The league did a great job with these too. The Houston Gamblers promise to be a hard nosed squad and this uniform just looks tough. The two-tone gray really sells the look.
HC – Jeff Fisher
Of course, the leagues most popular team nailed it with their uniforms for the league. The Michigan Panthers have dominated social media and will continue to do so with these threads.
New Jersey Generals
HC – Mike Riley
Very simple and plain uniforms for the New Jersey Generals who underwhelmed compared to the rest of the league so far.
New Orleans Breakers
HC – Larry Fedora
The logo really holds the Breakers back from being a fresh wave of color in the league, finally something other than red or black. Unfortunately, these are just lacking a special touch that the color scheme can’t really free up.
HC – Bart Andrus
The Philadelphia Stars managed to avoid a Boston College look but stayed clean with some visibly appealing uniforms themselves. It’s a nice set to compliment the rest of the league.
HC – Kirby Wilson
The Pittsburgh Maulers come into the league with a little bit of a color scheme that is difficult to do much with. The league decided to go with a more classic, traditional design with the old shoulder design that added a nice touch to the look.
Overall, they did a good job incorporating the city of Pittsburgh where they could. After all, this is the only professional team in the city right not not wearing black and gold.
Tampa Bay Bandits
HC – Todd Haley
The league really nailed it with the Tampa Bay Bandits uniforms. The bright red and silver is attractive to the eye and the black only contrasts perfectly. The simple design doesn’t overdo it. We’re pleased with the Bandits humble beginnings.
